Animal classfication

Today we learned about how animals are classified into groups. Animals are either veterbrate (which have spines) and invertebrates (Which have no spines)

invertebrates are animals like jellyfish crabs and insects.

Vertebrates are put into 5 groups. They are mammals, birds, reptile, fish and amphibians. mammals have fur or hair and give birth to live young. Birds have feathers lay eggs and have wings. Reptiles are cold- and lay soft eggs. amphibians breathe through there skin and need to keep their skin moist Fish breathe through their gills and have fins.

Here are some examples of the types.

Mammals: Humans, Bears, manatee, cats, dogs and mice.

Birds: parrots, Robins, swans, ducks, Falcon and penguins.

Reptiles: Crocodiles, chameleon, turtles, snake and gecko

Amphibians: newt, frogs, salamanders, caecilian and toads

Fish: eels, goldfish, seahorse, Shark and stingray
